FAQ

COLONICS

Q. Why fast at Orion?
A. The Orion Center is a Retreat and healing center that offers personal attention and support through the fasting process. Our foremost attention is to the healing process of each individual be that physical, emotional or spiritual and we embrace the connection between each of these. We include a holistic therapy in each cleanse as from our experiance with hundreds of different cleansers we knowhow vital this is to the process and we would like each cleanser to benefit from therapy. We can also recommend other treatment that will suit the particular needs of each cleanser. Koh Phangan is a beautiful island and compared to larger islands is very un-spoilt. We also have many tourist activities like diving, snorkeling, beautiful waterfalls and elephant trekking.

Q. I get the feeling that the Orion Healing Center is different to other cleansing centers, why is this?
A. Yes we are different; First of all we only cleanse a maximum of 8 bungalows at a time. This is to make sure that we can give personal attention and care to all those cleansing with us. We are both healers and energetic workers, and work personally with cleansers during the cleanse to release the body of the emotional and physical blockages.

Q. What are the benefits of colon cleaning?
A. Better elimination, stress reduction, assimilation of foods as well as the relief or elimination of fatigue, irritability, arthritis, bad breath, skin problems, headaches, depression, allergies, abdominal discomfort, or bloating.

Q. Why should we Fast and Detoxify? A. To cure the many diseases and imbalances that occur due to our busy modern day live styles and diet. A detox is an extremely effective way to deal with illnesses that conventional medicine can not cure. Fasting and detoxing is also an excellent preventative cure.

Q. Why is it recommended to do a supported fast at a center?
A. We do encourage people to do regular 24 hour fasts as well as weekend juice fasts during the year. A full detox is such a powerful and unique spiritual, emotional and physical experience that we recommend that people are in a retreat environment away for the conditionings and patterns that usually limit us as humans. It is also good to distance from the distractions of home and work. Here we are able to support you throughout the fasting process, be it in physical, emotional or spiritual requirements in a beautiful tropical environment close to nature.

Q. What is a colema?
A. Also known as a "colonic", a safe, effective method for cleansing the colon of waste material, hydrating, and supporting the release of physical, energetic and emotional tension by repeated, gentle flushing of the colon with water. It is literally a water massage of the tummy and colon from the inside out.

Q. Why not use enemas instead?
A. While everything has a purpose, enemas are not substitutes for colonics. Enemas are useful for emptying the rectum (the lowest 6 to 12 inches of the colon). Usually, one or two pints of water are used to do that. They can be used to undo the effects of temporary constipation.

Q. What is the difference between an enema and a colema?

A. The main difference is in the amount of water. A enema bag uses up to 2 liters of water, and a colema uses 20 litres. The advantage of the Colema colema gets to clean the entire length of the colon. Unlike the enema which only gets to clean the lower par of the bowel, not the entire colon.

ENEMA
Enemas only reach about 6-12" into your insides. It is done using an enema bag. No colema board is used so this process is administered while lying on your side or on all fours on the floor and when you are ready to evacuate the water, you must jump onto the toilet….. this is not very relaxing. (Whilst a colema board for allows you to lie down and relax during the whole process.) This is a somewhat messy and inconvenient system, but can be handy in emergencies, (e.g. if you are experiencing a one of bout of constipation). The enema method allows a small amount of water to enter the bowel each time. You can repeat the process by re-inserting the tip. This can become very inconvenient, difficult and painful, especially if there are hemorrhoids present. During a Cleansing Program, frequent colonic irrigations are required and using an enema bag can become time consuming and not very effective as it only allows water into the lower bowel. Enema bags are not useful in getting rid of mutant plaque or long standing deposits in the colon as not enough water is used.
Enema bags can be bought in your local pharmacy and are very inexpensive. Please check with all the centers your are enquiring at that colemas are part of the detox program rather then enemas.

COLONICS (colonic hydrotherapy)
A professional colonic is administered by a colon hydrotherapist who controls a machine that forces water into the bowel. Approx 80 liters of water are used in every session. The colon therapist controls the water flow, pressure and release of your colonic irrigation. They will usually also provide massaging during the session. Professional Colonics can be very effective in reaching the entire colon. Some people might feel uncomfortable with having someone in the same room with them during their colonic. These sessions can be costly. Each session can cost anywhere from $60 and up. A colonic therapist might recommend a specific diet or herbs to take during the period of time that you are doing colonics. Fasting is not usually part of this process.

COLEMAS USING A COLEMA BOARD
Colemas use 20 liters of water in each colonic. Waters flows in and out of the colon naturally and without discomfort. The whole process is done lying down on the colema board. The Colema Board procedure frees your hands to massage the abdomen as the water is let into the bowel. When you want to release the water, you relax and the fluid (and impacted fecal matter come out into your toilet). This procedure is repeated until the entire contents of the bucket have been exhausted. This system is extremely effaective in removing mutant plaque from the walls of the colon.

Q. Why can't I just use herbs to clean out my colon?
A. Herbs can help clean out the colon, but many times are far too harsh and can stress the organs and the body's immune system. They are especially hard on someone who may already have a compromised immune system. The cleansing process should rest the body not add undue stress to it. On occasion we will recommend that a one time use of an herbal laxative may be used to "kick start" a cleansing program, however, this is usually reserved for a person that has excessively slow bowel elimination.

Q. What happens to the naturally occurring intestinal flora while doing the detox?
A. Flushing out putrified material in the large intestine prepares the environment for well-balanced intestinal flora. Good bacteria can only breed in a clean environment which has been washed free of putrification and accompanying harmful bacteria. This is why the intestines of a new born baby immediately begin to grow good intestinal flora. Each time you clean out the putrifying rubbish and make a better environment for the good flora, they start to multiply immediately in their natural media. It also stands to reason that valuable nutrients can best be absorbed in a clean environment rather than in a filthy one. We also help this process by giving additional flora (bacteria) support through the detox.

Q. How long does a colema take?
A. Most colonics take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. It could also be shorter or longer than that.

Q Is a colema painful?
A. A Colema should not be painful. Most people actually enjoy the colonic and are especially pleased with the unaccustomed sensation of feeling lighter, clean, and clear afterward. On occasion people feel some discomfort. Usually, painful experiences are the result of resistance and tension. This method is very gentle as the water is not rushing in all at once. It is gently flowing and controlled by the user. Colemas allow for gentle intake and exit of water throughout the colema. This gentle process guarantees an effective, calm, and healing experience. We also give instructions on how to relax yourself and put yourself at ease and therefore minimizing any discomfort.

Q. What kind of water is used?
A. We use purified water because it is capable of absorbing and flushing more toxins out of the colon due to its drawing effect on solid particles, chemicals, and other matter.

Q. Why do two colemas a day?
A. Most of us have a considerable amount of impacted feces in the colon; a hardened, rubbery, or wallpaper-like material. Substantial work must be done to remove it. Additionally due to western diets our bodies have become toxic, when you are fasting large amounts of toxins are released into the blood stream. Twice a day colemas help to flush out this waste at a faster rate, and avoid auto intoxication. (This is when excess toxins from your organs are moving around the blood stream in large amount before being eliminated).

Q. Would you recommend coffee and garlic colemas or just water colemas?
A. We recommend filtered water as a base for all the colemas. If needed you can have daily coffee colemas, garlic or apple cider vinegar added to the Coloma. What is best for your individual needs will be discussed during your introductory lecture on colonics. If you know of any predisposed condition, such as parasites please let us know in advance.

Q. Is detoxing hard?
A. This all depends on your lifestyle and what you have come to detox. Every day of the detox will be different, with some days having heightened energy and some days a slump in energy levels, buried feelings and emotions may also surface during the detox. Being open and ready for this will make the detox easier. We have a wide range of holistic therapies to help through the more difficult days. Most people have a very positive experience from their detox and we have many return customers who choose to make detox part of their yearly routine.

Q.I am a smoker is it ok to detox?
A. Yes, if you are a smoker you can still detox, although we might recommend that during the cleanse you cut down on your cigarette intake or try to give up. It is very common that people have no desire to smoke during the detox.

REIKI

Q. I am interested in the Reiki I course and would like to know how many days the course is and how many hours each day. A. Reiki I is taught over 2 days. The first day being approx 3/4 hours, of mainly theoretical information, what can Reiki heal, how it works, what we can use it for, how we can heal ourselves and others, how we can use Reiki as a tool to develop our intuition, the history of Reiki and 5 principles. The second day is a full day and it is more practical. Hand positions, the energy centers, initiation in the Reiki and lots of practice. Hours are approximately: Day one 10 - 1, Day two 10 - 12.30 with lunch brake and 1.30 - 3.30. You receive a text book, certificate and Reiki initiation.

Q. Is it possible to learn REIKI 1 & 2 & MASTER together?
A. Yes Reiki I - Master can be studied together. It is a concentrated course with a large amount of time and a lot of practice that goes into all the courses. Because of the change that is happening in the world, the rising of consciousness and healing happening on the planet, we are collectively raising our vibration. This means that people are more ready to learn Reiki healing. Long period of time are not necessary for everyone between each level. Some people will take to this healing method naturally (as if it was second nature) and will feel instantly ready to progress to the next level. This off course varies and we as Master Teachers will have to judge if moving to the next level is appropriate for you.

The first Level is a stepping stone, an opening to the energy, Reiki II is learning tools and symbols for healing as well as Chakra balancing. People are expected to be able to feel the energetic body whilst giving a treatment before moving onto Reiki II. Reiki Master is more symbols to enhance the Reiki energy and Master Teacher is learning the art of initiations.

Q. How long is the Reiki Master Teacher course?
A. Our Reiki Master program takes 4 to 5 days. We also encourage students to stay on for longer and observe how we teach following workshops and to practice the art of initiations.

Q. Can I do a Reiki course while cleansing?
A. Yes. From our experience the fusion of Reiki and colonics is extremely powerful and benificial. For 21 days after initiation to Reiki there is a natural detoxification and purification happening in the body, this aids the colonic cleansing process. When we are fasting we can access higher spiritual levels and are very sensitive to energy. People initiated into Reiki at these times have profound experiences. Higher energy levels are present in cleanser's that partake in our Reiki courses, as Reiki adds prana (life force) to the body. Reiki also aids the release of emotional waste that is eliminated while we are cleansing.
